P2: Explain the changing media marketplace and how this has provided the opportunity for the proposed new product.
When looking at the changes of BBC from 1922 to now there are big changes. BBC has gone from a radio show then a TV channel to an app. The development of the channel going from traditional to digital shows me that the want for more digital and easy to use products are more in demand, people want an easy to use system that full fills their needs.
MTV
When looking at the developments of MTV from 1981 to now also shows me that the world is moving more to digital and the need for easy to use methods isn't ending. This channel also moving to an app shows me this too. The fact it is still up in viewers also shows me that people still want to see music videos and content similar to celebs.
P3: Describe roles required to support the content within the planned proposal.
The proposal I have gone with is Brief 3. Stating I must make "An app which works with UK music artists and online clothing companies to sell clothes in a unique way. Watching interviews and music videos and buying the celebs outfits with a click of a button". To ensure that my product work effectively would mean I need to make it look as good as possible as this will bring in users. An app similar to mine would be ASOS.
The layout of the ASOS app is simple and clear to navigate with the icons at the bottom as well as the scrolling feature where you can look further down the page to find more clothing. I must make sure the coding of my app is down perfectly so the app works smoothly with no errors or mistakes otherwise it may not appeal to the target audience. Another thing I must think about is the target audience its self. This would mean I must do some audience research into the types of clothing they like which will help tailor the clothes I advertise. Also I must think about the artists I use as well as I must have a range of artists so that everyone is tailored for.
In terms of staffing I need for my idea I need:
Coder - This is needed because they will be the one that makes the app look appealing as well as being about to code in the content like music videos, interviews, images and any navigating features like icons and scrolling.
Photographer - This role is important because i need high quality pictures for the app to look good. Without this role, the pictures would be bad which could make the audience less likely to buy products from the app.
Researcher - This role is important in terms of profit as they can research into the audience which can make the app better for the user making it more likely for them buy from the app.
App Designers - This job needs to be filled because this will be the main part of my product (how the app looks) with out this the app code be very basic and boring and in terms of profit deter the users to not use the app resulting in no products being sold.
Marketing - This is an important role for my company because they will be about to market our app to companies that can push the app, as well as being able to advertise the app and the shop to reach the target audience in a different way.
Distribution team - Here the role would be how they distribute the products on the app and how people can sell it and see it. This role is important because this is how we sell the product, which will lead us to a profit.
In terms of skills for each role:
Coder - Needs the skill to be able to successfully make an app using code. Know how to work a computer efficiently as they need to be able to navigate software.
Photographer - They need to be able to take picture that will have an effect on the audience. As well as being able to capture the clothing in its best way
Researcher - In terms of skill, the researcher must be able to use the internet in their favour as search about whats popular at the moment and what is grabbing peoples attention currently. Also they must have the skills of confidence to hold a focus group to a group of people about the product.
App Designers - They must have artistic skills to draw up mock ideas for the app design. They must also know the terminology for the app including icons, hyperlinks etc.
Marketing - They must have confidence skills to be able to market the product in a pitch to other companies. Also they must have persuasive skills to be able to sell the product effectively.
Distribution - Must be able to navigate the app and know how to input a distribution method within the app.
M2: Compare traditional media roles with new emerging roles and the impact this has had on your product proposal.
