The show is gonna start with an intro maybe the stations ident so the audience know what they are listening to. From then it can go to the presenter talking about the topic intorducting it as well as maybe a panel of people introducing themselves. It can go from there to me talking about the best game I have played this year why I like it then going around the panel adsking them. It can go from there to asking the audience what their favourite has been this year. Whilst we are waiting for responses we can go through a list of the best and worst games of the year. Starting with the best then to worst. After doing one of each we’ll go back to the feedback from the audience about what their favourite and worst is from the year (bouncing off of it in the studio) then back to the list. Mid way through the show we can have short segment of the upcoming games next year. Hyping up the next games and what our favourite might be next year.
M3: Describe legal and ethical considerations required to comply with regulatory bodies for an original radio programme
When making any production you have to consider the legal and ethical issues regarding the show because the content creator doesn't want to offend the listener which they have to be careful of. The regulator for Radio is OFCOM, so I have had a look at they're codes of conduct to ensure that my piece is suitable for broadcast.
Privacy - Within my piece I am going to be explaining a little bit about the panel i have, i have to make sure that what i am saying is not breaking the privacy code which states that you have to "ensure that broadcasters avoid any unwarranted infringement of privacy in programmes and in connection with obtaining material included in programmes". This means when I do my research i have to make sure that nothing I say crosses the line and i say nothing personal about them like address, phone number that may put them in danger. Accuracy - In my piece I am planning on producing facts about games and reviewing them so I have to make sure that what i say is not damaging for the company but also accurate. This is important because the audience listening could think that what i say is true and spread it around which could damage my stations reputation as well as the game we're talking about. Defamation of Characters - I am having a part at the beginning of the show where I introduce the panel so i have to be careful of what i say because i don't want to be libel for saying something against a specific person that is not true because it could affect their reputation. A fine could be issued if this is done within my show. I ensure others and personally not say anything negative about a person that is not true. Copyright - This is crucial for my piece because I legally need to gain permission to use any content that has been copyrighted either through a licence fee or some agreement. If content was made and given copyright over 70 years ago and hasn't been renewed it is then available to the public to use. PSL - To legally be able to broadcast full length songs of copyrighted artists on theshow, I would need a license permit from OFCOM called the Restricted Service License [PSL] which give me the right to:
broadcast and simulcast from the UK
copy commercial works into programmes and trailers
copy our members’ music for broadcast onto databases and servers
PPL - This is a UK based music licensing company that allows music to be broadcasted on TV or radio stations. They also distributes license fees for artist and companies. This makes gaining access to copyright easier because I can get access from all artists from this site.
D1: Justify how the codes and conventions of the radio genre are embedded within the planned content
