Source special effects footage in line with production plan
0:00 - During this time I am setting up my special effects for my film sequence. I have placed green objects around the props to hold them up on the table setup I have made. 0:26 - I am now setting up the two lights that are used in my film sequence to light the green screen and the ships that act like the sun in space. 1:05 - At this time my friend Chessie is putting a usb wire into the camera so that the footage we collect gets transferred straight to the computer so I have the footage already saved. 1:24 - I am now setting up the second light that lights the green screen eliminating the shadows. 1:28 - Here I am using the vision mixer to chroma key out the green screen and replace it with a space background with stars to make the film sequence more realistic and better quality. 1:33 - I am starting to recording tracking shots of the falcon using the tripod with wheels. 1:56 - Here I am recording the shot where the camera is establishing the falcon in space and the camera is going over the top of the falcon. 2:06 - In this part of the behind the scenes i am recording a back shot of the falcon and tie fighter, this was me experimenting with the ships and seeing the lighting but later in postproduction i found that from this angle the shadows are too extreme messing with the green screen. 2:12 - Here I'm recording my crew helping me try and get a shot the falcon flying over the top pf the tie fighter and landing behind and shooting the tie fighter down however through production this was found to be very difficult and almost impossible so this part of the film sequence was changed so the film sequence is left on a cliff hanger.
Review and edit sourced footage
I think that this shot will work with my production especially my visual effects because within this shot I am able to add in visual effects like beams and the explosions that will add to the action and tension within my film sequence. This shot itself has a lot of action within it as the camera moves as if it were another ship following the chase, the movements allow me to understand the kind of environment these ships need being moving space and for the beams to follow the movements of the ships. Also I believe that this kind of shot is similar to that seen in Star Wars because its good for following the action like Star Wars likes to do (have your attention only on the action) to keep the audience engaged. Especially when the ships pass the camera this is similar to star wars, also this allows there to be a good cliff hanger as the ships leave shot to show that the fight continues but allows the audience to come up with their own conclusion, making the audience feel more involved.
This shot allows both my visual and special effects to shine as it allows the audience to see the beauty of the ship showing the detail and care the ship receives. This helps the narrative as it help show the dramatic change/contrast between how nice the ship looks and when I add in a devastating laser beam the destroys the ship which will be evident when I add in the explosions as well. Also the shot is steady enhancing the moment when the ship is hit where I will add a small shake to the camera to make the impact more effective to the audience.
This shot will be before the previous shot this is just another establishing shot of the Millenium Falcon, this is again just to emphasise the battle that is about to happen. This will be good for my special effects being scale models as I was able to capture the detail on the ship showing how beautiful it is before it gets attacked by a tie fighter.
This shot will be good to use in my film sequence to create action as the audience are able to feel as if the ships are passing right past them. This shot is especially good for my special effect (scale models) as I am able to see the detail on both the ship showing how they both look. This shot also enhance the action by showing the chase from a more intimate angle showing them close making the audience feel worried about whether the Millenium Falcon will survive or not.
Apply planned visual effects to sourced footage
This charger is a great explosion for my battle as it is intense and thrilling as its bright and vibrant with colour. It will have a positive impact on my film sequence because it will increase how real it looks and more action filled for more engagement. I got this charger from the after effects on my computer
This beam effect I got from final cut pro will add to my film sequence as it fits in with the star wars feel and the lasers are the main part of my film sequence as they are the cause of the battle.
